Yes, there was a family named Towson. About 1750, the brothers William and Thomas Towson traveled from Pennsylvania to Maryland. Thomas' son Eziakiel opened a tavern north of what is now Towson. Known as Towsontown, the township grew through trade of farmers in the York, Dulaney Valley and Joppa areas.
In 1854, the Count House was constructed and Towson became the County Seat of Baltimore. Information about important government services are:
